While realme is more known for its phones and aIoT products, the young brand wants to expand its portfolio further. Aside from Smart TVs, realme has announced its own laptop with the realme Book (or Book Slim in other markets). This marks not just the first time realme is expanding into laptops, but also the first time for a company under the BBK umbrella to do so.
realme’s first laptop offering features a 14-inch 3:2 display with a 2160×1440 resolution, 400nits maximum brightness, and Gorilla Glass protection. The display has slim bezels for a 90% screen-to-body ratio, along with coverage for 100% of the sRGB gamut.
Powering the realme Book are Intel’s 11th-gen Core i3 and i5 processors that are paired with Iris Xe integrated graphics, up to 16GB LPDDR4X RAM, and up to 512GB NVMe SSD storage. To keep temps stable, realme equipped its debut laptop with a dual-fan cooling system. Port selection include two USB-C ports (one supporting Thunderbolt 4), a USB-A 3.0 port, and a headphone jack. Audio is taken care of by Harman Kardon-tuned stereo speakers.
Charging is done via 65w USB-C charging, and realme adds that their debut laptop can use the brand’s Dart Charge chargers commonly used on its phones. The battry is a 54wHr variety, and realme claims that it is rated for up to 11 hours on a single charge.
Similar to Huawei Share for Huawei’s laptops, the realme Book has a PC Connect feature that lets you control compatible realme phones via WiFi Direct.
The realme Book starts at INR 46,999(~Php 32k) for the Core i3 variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, while the Core i5 variant with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at INR 59,999(~Php 40.8k). In China, there’s a Core i5 variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage and is priced at CNY 4,699(~Php 36.6k).
First sales will begin in India on August 30 and in China on August 25, and there’s no word yet if realme will bring the Book (or Book Slim) to the Philippines.
