When it comes to gaming or any type of play, one needs both skill and quality gear to remain competitive. While the former requires an excruciating amount of time and effort to acquire, the latter just needs a bit of research before shopping. Thankfully, these ASUS ROG Peripherals got us covered on the other end. Enter the ROG Falchion NX Mechanical Keyboard and the Gladius III Wireless Mouse, both tools that could elevate your entire experience.

We’ll start with the ROG Falchion NX Mechanical Keyboard. This is only right since a lot of people have been interested in upgrading their trusty but old membrane keyboards ever since the pandemic started. There’s a feeling of satisfaction that comes exclusively with the clicking and clacking of a mechanical switch that seems to boost productivity and confidence in gaming all around.

There are dozens of mechanical keyboards out there – encompassing various switch feels, typing sounds, designs, and price points. The ROG Falchion NX comes with installed ROG NX Switches that provide a solid typing experience. There are two options when it comes to these custom switches: ROG NX Blues which are clickier and more tactile, while the installed ROG NX Reds we have in our unit are more linear, swift, and come with an addictive “thocc.” The typing feel can make or break a keyboard; for this, it does the former in style.

Another big plus is that comfortably nestles itself on any table space with its attractive 65% layout. This allows for it to take up minimal space on your desk but keeps essential buttons like dedicated arrow keys and others. Each of the keycaps has a squared-off angular feel to it, much like the other devices in the ASUS Republic of Gamers lineup.

RGB lights make themselves known by illuminating brightly, especially when you crank them up to the maximum setting. The hues diffuse cleanly through the lettering on the keycaps as well as the translucent switches and components on the keyboard. Another brilliant move here is to allow changing the Light Modes and brightness settings without having open a program – just press a key and it works like magic. ASUS has made sure to include some interesting light patterns here like the usual pulsing, waterdrops, starry night, and others.

The design is just as intelligent as it is attractive. To make up for the smaller form factor and missing keys, shortcuts have been printed on the side of the keycaps which are, in turn, programmed into multipurpose buttons. As the top keys are slightly higher than the ones below them, the illumination from the bottom keys allows you to read the shortcut guides.

Another useful feature is the volume touch slider on the left side that allows for accessible adjustments. There’s even a hole in the ROG keyboard case to provide easy access. Without a doubt, this has definitely been thought through.

Last but not the least, connectivity is engineered to be consistent with options for either wired USB Type-C or 2.4GHz RF connectivity. Wireless battery life is stated to be at an astonishing 450 hours with the RGB lighting off.

Another critical component for any gaming enthusiast is an accurate gaming mouse. What good can countless hours of hand-eye coordination training do if the mouse itself can’t keep up with intricate movements? Luckily for us, the ASUS ROG Gladius III Wireless Mouse has especially been developed for performance on the highest stage.

We start off with one of its most unique features: the patented Push-fit Socket II hot-swapping capability. There are switches and a prong that come in the box to easily switch out these mechanisms and give the mouse a different feel altogether. The ROG NX Micro Switches embedded have been marketed to have a 70-million click lifespan and be constructed with gold plating to improve durability. You can trust these not to let you down in crucial moments.

OMRON switches also come in the box to rapidly change the identity of the mouse altogether by altering the clicking feel. Process-wise, only rubber feet and two screws needed to come undone, followed up by giving the mouse a little wiggle wiggle, for sure.

It has a sensor capable of 19,000 dpi but can go up to 26,000 with some tweaks. DPI settings can be effortlessly changed through the ASUS ROG ARMOURY application and the tiny triangular button underneath the scroll wheel. We’re not too sure who can actually game on that sensitivity but it’s always welcome to flex on the stat sheet.

The 400 ips optical sensor has a class-leading 1% deviation and 1000Hz polling rate. If you’re not familiar with the “polling rate” term, it broadly means that this is the number of times the hardware reports its positioning data to the computer. Higher numbers indicate more rapid recognition of changes in mouse positioning, which could theoretically give you a competitive advantage if your skills match up. This mouse can keep up with even the world’s most skilled players.

Connectivity here comes via low-power Bluetooth 5.2, a 2.4 GHz RF connection, or wired USB. The last option is done via an included ROG Paracord cable specifically designed for these purposes.

The Gladius III Wireless looks the part of the professional ASUS ROG peripherals as well. Its shape is reminiscent of previous iterations of the Gladius – which isn’t a bad thing since those models fit snug in the hands. The curvature feels natural and using this for hours on end shouldn’t cause any pain. Patterns have been inscribed into the device’s sides to facilitate grip between the mouse and the human hand. There are also 2 programmable side buttons present, for professional gamers to lock these into preselected buttons to give them an edge in the game of their choice.

How can we forget the top of the “most important for gamers” list of features; the RGB lighting? This mouse has a glowing ROG logo up front and center with lights emanating from the scroll wheel and “ASUS REPUBLIC OF GAMERS” text on the sides. A nice touch indeed. Press on the “PROFILE” button on the mouse’s underbelly and you can toggle between a variation of lighting effects to get you in that competitive mood.

The set of ASUS ROG Peripherals presented to us here offers amazing usability for a bevy of purposes – whether it be gaming, working, studying, or other activities that can be performed. These are versatile and reliable while looking immensely cool. ASUS has hit it out of the park by assuring us of long-term quality with these technological investments. It’s a hard recommend from us.
