There is an endless stream of TWS earbuds being released, with each brand wanting a slice of the pie. However, not many of these products carry the prestige of being developed by one of the world’s largest tech companies. Arriving in the Philippines are the Huawei Freebuds SE earbuds, the latest TWS product released by the brilliant minds at Huawei. They aim to use their experience and fuse it all together to create a product worthy of recognition.
With the Huawei FreeBuds SE, the company claims that it brings together comfortable ergonomics, excellent audio quality, and a smart experience – all for a price that’s easy to stomach.
To achieve their goal, they’ve done multiple things:
Ergonomics are covered by the earbuds’ semi in-ear design that has been engineered to match the contours of the human ear. The team hopes that this minimizes any form of pressure that can build on the ear canal within hours of use. Silicone tips in three different sizes are also offered to give the best fit to the user. These are soft and pliable which means that they not only fit well at the start but only get better as hours wearing these buds pile up. The material used in crafting the tips has been chosen as it doesn’t cause skin allergies for most, if not all, people.
When it comes to audio quality, Huawei has not forgotten to pay special attention to such an important element. The star of the show is the large 10mm dynamic driver sheltered within the buds’ compact frame. The advertised PEEK+PU+PET titanium dome, in addition to the diaphragm design, has been claimed to bring out more details in the music than ever before.
Huawei has proudly boasted the Huawei FreeBuds SE as providing the best listening experience in the Pop genre. According to their marketing materials, vocals are heavily-pronounced here but balance out with the lively bass, smooth treble characteristics, and vivid midrange. We won’t know how much truth is behind these claims until we get one of these in our ears but we are definitely optimistic about the listening experience these have to offer.
Lastly, a smart experience is achieved thanks to advanced Bluetooth 5.2 technology and Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC). The former is tech we’ve seen before and is known to use less power, have better stability for a wireless connection, and reduce latency altogether. The latter meanwhile has been promoted to aid in clearer call quality and reduce ambient noise across the board.
Another premium feature that adds to the overall experience is the inclusion of high-sensitivity sensors which can detect if the buds are worn or taken off. These will pause and resume music playback accordingly while making sure touch controls are ultra-responsive.
What is quality without longevity? The Huawei FreeBuds SE have a stated battery life of 6 hours of continuous playback and 24 hours within the case. Calls reduce this a bit to 4 and 16 hours respectively, but that is still an admirable span of time for such a small package.
With all these being said, the Huawei FreeBuds SE are a very promising pair of wireless earbuds. Retailing at a price of PHP 2,499, they’re a bargain when you consider the technology that is implanted within the device. As of now, they have an exclusive pre-order price of PHP 2,299 on the Huawei Online Store and Lazada – then they’ll go on sale on all major websites from June 11 onwards.
