As the first half of 2022 comes to a close, MediaTek announces three new processors with the Dimensity 1050, Dimensity 930, and Helio G99.

The Dimensity 1050 is the first MediaTek processor that supports both sub-6Ghz and mmWave 5G connectivity, which means that MediaTek might be able to make its 5G processors available in more countries. The Dimensity 1050 is similar to the Dimensity 1100 and 1200 as it uses a 6nm process. The CPU layout is similar to the Dimensity 1100, though the Dimensity 1050’s Cortex-A78 runs slightly lower at 2.4Ghz. The Dimensity 1050 does support LPDDR5 RAM and uses a newer Mali-G610 MC3 GPU, though we have to see how it compares to the Mali-G77 MC9 used on the Dimensity 1100 and 1200.

Next up, the Dimensity 930 is similar to the Dimensity 900 and 920 but with the Cortex-A78 cores running lower at 2.2Ghz. What’s interesting with the Dimensity 930 is its use of an IMG BXM-8-256 GPU. We don’t know much about it, but Imagination describes the GPU as something that’s suitable for mid-range phones.

Wrapping up MediaTek’s new processors is the 4G-only Helio G99, which improves on the Helio G96 in a number of aspects. The biggest improvement is its use of a 6nm process, which should translate to significantly better battery life and power efficiency over the 12nm process used on the Helio G96. In addition to that, the Helio G96’s Cortex-A76 cores are now clocked at 2.2Ghz.

Dimensity 930-powered phones are expected to be available by the second quarter of 22, while those with the Dimensity 1050 and Helio G99 will be available by the third quarter of 2022.
