If you want the WF-1000XM4 but find them quite expensive, Sony has a slightly more affordable offering with the LinkBuds S. Veering away from the unusual open ring design of the LinkBuds last year, the LinkBuds S has a more conventional design that does remind us of the brand’s top-end WF-1000XM4 TWS earbuds.

Like their flagship sibling, the LinkBuds S offers ANC, but has the advantage of being light ar under 5g per earbud. It suffices to say that the LinkBuds S is more compact than the WF-1000XM4. With the “Link” branding, they are designed with comfort in mind, with Sony assuring all-day comfort. Despite being feather-light, the LinkBuds S still have an IPX4 rating.

Aside from ANC, the LinkBuds S feature Ambient mode and support for Sony’s LDAC codec. Despite being incredibly light, Sony rate the LinkBuds S with up to 6 hours of battery life with ANC on, and up to 20 hours with the charging case. Charging them is limited to USB-C; considering its price, it’s strange that the LinkBuds S does not have support for wireless charging.

The LinkBuds S have smart functionalities like wear detection sensors that let it play music immediately when you put them in and play relaxing soundscape tracks after a work call. Like other Sony audio products, you get features like adaptive sound control.

The LinkBuds S are priced at $200(~Php 10.5k) and are available in the US on May 20. There’s no word yet when Sony will make them available in the Philippines.
