DJI updates its Mini line of drones with the Mini 3 Pro. With all the upgrades it has, the DJI Mini 3 Pro feels more like a smaller version of the Air 2S, which gives it a more expensive price tag in the Philippines than the Mini 2.
While it still keeps its under-249g weight, the Mini 3 Pro get a substantial set of upgrade. Starting with the sensor, you get an all-new 1/1.3-inch sensor with an f/1.7 aperture that can shoot full-res 48-megapixels or 12-megapixels in binned mode. The focal length is the same as the Mini 2 at 24mm.
The new sensor allows the Mini 3 Pro to shoot 4K video at up to 60FPS and 4K HDR video at up to 30FPS. You also get a D-Cinelike color profile if you are into color grading footage. The three-axis gimbal now has a portrait mode, which will come in handy for producing TikTok and Instagram Reels content.
Video recording options include H.265 and H.265 video at up to 150Mbps, Zoom mode (2x in 4K, 4x in 1080p), an Slow-motion capture (4K at 60FPS, 1080p at 120FPS).
Despite being small, the Mini 3 Pro has forward, backward, and downward obstacle avoidance sensors for peace of mind. The added sensors also give new autonomous features like Spotlight 2.0, Point of Interest 3.0, Active Track 4.0, Hyperlapse, and MasterShots.
Overall flight time has been improved as well, with the Mini 3 Pro being able to be on the air at up to 34 minutes with the regular Intelligent Flight battery. You can push the flight time to a crazy 47 minutes with the optional Intelligent Flight Battery Plus–but that pushes the Mini 3 Pro beyond the no-regulations 249g weight and the need for DJI’s 30w charger.
