After making a statement last year with a phone boasting a 1-inch sensor and Leica optics, Sharp is back once again with the Aquos R7. Compared to last year’s Aquos R6, the R7 has a sleeker design that sacrifices the curved WUXGA+ display for a flat OLED that still keeps the blazing-fast 240hz refresh rate, 10-bit color, and 12.6-megapixel selfie snapper that’s kept in a punch-hole.

The large 1-inch sensor has more than double the resolution at 47-megapixels, and Sharp claims that the increased resolution should improve low light shooting by as much as 1.8x. Like its predecessor, the R7 also comes with a 7p Leica Summicron lens, 19mm focal length, and a wide f/1.9 aperture. Assisting the huge camera sensor is a depth sensor. Other features of the main camera include octa PDAF for fast autofocusing and 8K video recording.

Being a flagship phone, the Aquos R7 is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor that’s paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. You also get an IP68 rating, Android 12, and a 5000mAh battery with support for wireless charging.

Sharp Aquos R7 Specs:

  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor
  • 12GB LPDDR5 RAM
  • 256GB UFS 3.1 storage
