Five months after its global debut, Suzuki finally launched the 2022 Celerio in the Philippines. It features an astounding fuel consumption among others, making it a very relevant car these days.
Suzuki did not only make this car more fuel-efficient but also more spacious inside. Sitting on a new platform called HEARTECT, the all-new Celerio has more luggage space—295 liters. It also has a better shoulder room and leg room than the previous model.
Moreover, the exterior design has been drastically improved. It now looks better with the redesigned headlights, taillights, and grille. There is also a new set of 15-inch black alloy wheels with 175/60R15 tires. Meanwhile, inside this all-new model are twin-slot center AC vents with chrome accents, barrel-type side air vents with silver trims, and a 7-inch Sony infotainment system with WebLink as standard.
For the best part, the 2022 Celerios is powered by a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine that features the brand’s Dual Jet technology. Paired with a start-stop system, it is capable of 28.25 km/L. This is by far the most fuel-efficient gas-powered car in the Philippines as tested by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).
In addition, the engine features a cooled EGR, integrated exhaust manifold, and an auto tensioner system. It makes 66 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 89 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. You can pair it with either a 5-speed manual or Suzuki’s clutchless manual called Auto Gear Shift (AGS). The suspension setup is MacPherson at the front and torsion beam at the back. The brakes are handled by discs at the front and drums at the rear.
For safety, Suzuki made sure that the car can comply with all the global crash safety regulations. The car comes with dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, and reverse parking sensors as standard. Hill hold control is available only for the AGS variant.
