The construction of the Converge Data Center in Cebu will be completed as planned. The 1-billion peso facility will support the ever increasing demand for connectivity and data not just in Cebu, but the whole country as well.
According to Converge chief operations officer Jesus Romero, the facility will begin operations by the third quarter of 2022. Moreover, the new facility with its 300 racks will complement the existing Pasig and Clark data centers.
“We are trying to build a network that is, of course, high availability, non-blocking and low latency. One of the important things is to have data center facilities to house content providers,” Romero said.
“Further, we expect more customers such as over-the-top (OTT) operators, global carriers, and of course, local enterprises,” he added.
A data center is a facility composed of networked computers, storage systems and computing infrastructure that organizations use to assemble, process, store and disseminate large amounts of data. In short, they are crucial for storing, processing, and disseminating data. Meanwhile, OTT operators are online streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Viu.
Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy said that “Converge has also deployed the latest optical technologies in its network (data center), making it the most technologically advanced.”
