Google announced a number of new hardware at I/O 2022, and the Pixel 6A is one of the headliners of the event. Like every xA Pixel phone, the Pixel 6A positions itself as a more affordable version of last year’s Pixel 6 series. It’s also the smallest of the Pixel 6 variants, sporting a 6.1-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a dated 60hz refresh rate. It does share the same design language as its bigger siblings, but you only get Gorilla Glass 3 for the front display and a plastic back panel. Despite that, the Pixel 6A manages to keep an IP67 rating.

You still get the same Tensor processor, but RAM and storage are limited to 6GB and 128GB respectively. Going to the cameras, the Pixel 6A has the same ultra-wide-angle as the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro but uses a lower-resolution 12.2-megapixel main camera with OIS–which is the same one used on the Pixel 5A. As expected, the battery on the Pixel 6A is smaller at 4410mAh, with charging speeds limited to just 18w (no wireless charging support).

Google Pixel 6 Specs

  • 6GB LPDDR5 RAM
  • 128GB UFS 3.1 storage
  • 6.1-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display, Gorilla Glass 3

  • WiFi 6e, Bluetooth 5.2, in-display fingerprint scanner
  • Titan M2 Security Chip, Stereo speakers

On the good side of things, the Google Pixel 6A keeps the $459(~Php 23.6k) of the Pixel 5A, making it a good entry point if you want to try out a phone with Google’s Tensor processor. It will go on sale online on July 21 and in stores on July 28, but you’ll only be able to get it in the following countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States.
