With Transsion having the biggest market share growth in the Philippines according to IDC’s Q4 2021 report, the brand that has Infinix, TECNO, and Itel under its belt has secured the second spot in the 1Q 2022 report of IDC, overtaking OPPO.
According to the 1Q 2022 report of IDC, Transsion’s key strength is the arrival of the Infinix Zero 5G and TECNO POVA 5G in the Philippines, with both phones contributing to 11% of 5G phone shipments in the country. Both phones are very competitive in pricing, with the POVA 5G having an under Php 13k price and the Zero 5G having an eye-dropping under Php 10k price during a flash sale last March 28.
Another strength of Transsion is with ITEL, where the budget Vision 3 offered a compelling set of features like 18w wired charging for under Php 5k.
Moving on to the top 5 brands mentioned in the 1Q 2022 report of IDC, Samsung was able to return to third place with a 7.6% YoY growth. Samsung’s increased market share is credited to sales of its Galaxy S22 series, along with budget offerings from the Galaxy A series.
Xiaomi, on the other hand, managed to bounce back to the top 5 with an impressive 20.8% year-on-year growth. IDC credits Xiaomi’s comeback with the sales of the Redmi Note 11 and Xiaomi 12 series.
