Along with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, Qualcomm also introduced the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 that’s perfect for midrange devices. 

Qualcomm Introduces Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

The new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is built on Samsung’s 4nm platform and paired with an Adreno GPU. It features an octa-core Kryo CPU consisting of one Cortex-A710 Prime core clocked at 2.4GHz, three Cortex-A710 Performance cores clocked at 2.36GHz, and four Cortex-A510 Efficiency cores clocked at 1.8Ghz. All this combination resulted in 20% faster graphics rendering and 30% better AI processing than its predecessor, according to the manufacturer.

In addition, The new chip can handle up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM. It is also capable of 4.4 Gbps download speeds with dual standby 5G connectivity on both (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes. WiFi 6E is also on board, together with Bluetooth 5.3 with Snapdragon Sound and aptX support.

Even better, the chip can support up to 200MP photo capture and 4K HDR video recording. 10-bit HEIC photo capture and HEVC video recording are also possible. And for gamers, the  Adreno Frame Motion Engine can double framerates in games while maintaining the same power consumption as the SD 778G. 

According to reports, the first phone to arrive with this chip is the Oppo Reno8 Pro, which will be introduced on May 23.
