It took 14 years for the all-new Land Cruiser 300 to be revealed. Perhaps Toyota took their time with this one, it’s their most iconic SUV after all. Months after its global debut, the all-new 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser is finally in the Philippines.
Although Toyota has no official announcement yet, the new model has certainly landed on our shores already. Many photos surfaced on the internet where the new model can be seen on a trailer truck. Sooner or later, the LC300 will be available in many Toyota dealers nationwide.
The new LC300 has two variants in the Philippines: LC300 VX and LC300 ZX. Both variants are equipped with a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine capable of 302hp at 4,000rpm and 700Nm of torque at 2,600rpm, mated to a Direct Shift 10-speed automatic transmission as standard.
If you have been expecting a drastic change in design, you will be disappointed as Toyota decided to give the LC300 just a few external makeovers only. It still looks subtle and mature like the previous model, making it appear like a face-lifted model when in fact it is all-new. The latest design has thinner headlamps and a larger grille. The taillights at the rear are now thinner, too. The window lines are more stylish and the wheels are made bigger. Lastly, the fog lights are now located at the bottom part of the bumper. All this simple redesign looks appropriate for the much-loved classic SUV.
A drastic makeover can be found in the interior. It’s completely new with modern features like the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, heads-up display, 360-degree camera, powered tailgate, full digital cluster, and even a fingerprint authentication system. However, the tachometer and speedometer remain analog. Overall, the interior screams premium. The steering wheel, seats, and sidings are made of leather, which puts together the elegant interior design of this car.
Of course, the LC300 is equipped with a four-wheel-drive system complete with three differential locks. It’s an indispensable requirement given the purpose of the vehicle. Toyota says they re-designed the vehicle for off-roading optimization. They added an Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) to the LC300, along with an upgraded Electronically Controlled Kinetic Dynamic Suspension Stabilisation (E-KDSS) system. There is an advanced Multi-Terrain System as well, with additional Deep Snow and Auto modes. There’s also an underbody camera as part of the Multi-Terrain Monitor system. More importantly, the LC300 is now lighter by 200 kilograms and it sits on a new stronger platform. It now has a lower center of gravity, better weight distribution, and improved approach and departure angles.
Every Land Cruiser model has been successful in keeping the legacy alive for decades. The all-new 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 will be no different. We just have to wait for its official launch in the Philippines.
