The Moto Razr V3 has just been leaked over a GIF uploaded on Twitter. The poster is none other than the ever-reliable Evan Blass of evleaks. This confirms the suspicions that we held late last year, as seen in this article.
What gave rise to these suspicions? Well, Lenovo exec Chen Jin was seen teasing the Moto Razr V3 over Weibo at the time. He didn’t drop much information but did mention that the goal for this third iteration is to improve on the previous generation’s weak points. This makes sense as the Razr was one of the first foldables but didn’t reach the commercial success of its Samsung counterparts due to some shortcomings.
These weaknesses include a low-resolution main display, the questionnable camera performance, a weak processor all with a hefty price tag. The novelty of being a foldable is still impressive, but is no longer going to cut it in 2022.
Rumors around the market speculate that the Moto Razr V3 is finally going to be coming with a flagship-grade processor in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. From the GIF, we can see a side-mounted fingerprint scanner which is a welcome addition due to its proven reliability. The rear showcases 2 cameras (reportedly a 50-megapixel main with a 13-megapixel ultrawide) instead of 1, so we might also get a noticeable upgrade from the 48-megapixel sensor in the Gen 2.
Other news about specs allegedly include a 6.7-inch 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED panel, which is a massive step-up from the last one. Options are reportedly a 8/128GB and 12/512GB option.
The Galaxy Z Flip should watch out as the external screen of the Razr is actually usable. Will the Moto Razr V3 have enough to declare itself as the king of the foldable hill? Let’s find out! We’ll keep you posted on future news regarding this awaited device.
