2022 Toyota GR 86

Starting with the exterior, a lot has changed from the previous model. This is an all-new 86, after all. The design somehow resembles the new Supra from Toyota, although it looks better than the previous 86. It has LED headlights and taillights, DRLs, GR badging, and a chrome-tipped dual exhaust. It is also good to note that the hood, roof, and fenders of the new model are made of aluminum.

2022 Toyota GR 86: Interior

Inside, the 86 no longer looks outdated. In fact, the new model is oozing with modern features. The instrument panel has been replaced by an LCD panel that changes display depending on the driving mode. Moreover, the switches inside look up-to-date and the steering wheel now comes with paddle shifters for the  A/T variant.

Under the hood, the 2022 GR 86 now comes with a bigger and more powerful engine. Goodbye to the old 2.0L engine and hello to the new 2.4L engine. Although it still doesn’t come with a turbo, the new engine packs 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Of course, all that power is sent to the rear wheels making the GR 86 a proper sports car.

Another huge improvement with the new model can be found in its safety features. The 2022 GR 86 now has adaptive cruise control, collision warning, and a lane-departure system from Subaru’s EyeSight technology.

Having said all that, the 2022 Toyota GR 86 no doubt belongs to the list of exciting upcoming cars in the Philippines. The fact that the GR 86 is technically a proper sports car makes it even more special. Add in the fact that it doesn’t break the bank and you can rank it high up in the list of the most awaited cars in the country.
